Red Journey 2025, bearing the message "Donating blood saves lives – A noble gesture," aims to receive over 1,600 safe blood units. In recent days, relevant authorities, sectors, and units have focused on preparing all necessary conditions to ensure the success of the blood donation day, striving to achieve the set targets.

A notable feature of Red Journey 2025 in Lang Son is the organizing committee's decision to expand the program's scale. Specifically, the program will span two days (June 19 and June 20, at the Lang Son City Party Committee - People's Committee hall) instead of just one day, as was the case in 2024. This marks Lang Son's 12th consecutive year hosting the Red Journey program. The series of activities will include mobile propaganda parades on voluntary blood donation (VBD), cultural exchanges and advocacy for VBD, organizing the "Red drop of Xu Lang" blood donation day, and visiting and presenting gifts to some policy families in Lang Son city.

Ms. Nong Bich Thuan, Chairwoman of the Provincial Red Cross Society (RCS) and Deputy Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for VBD Mobilization, stated that upon receiving the directive from the Central RCS regarding the Red Journey campaign, the association proactively advised on developing the program's plan and content for the Provincial Steering Committee for VBD Mobilization. Additionally, it promptly allocated targets to various units, departments, and sectors within the province. Concurrently, the association has intensified close coordination with departments, sectors, and press agencies to boost promotion of Red Journey 2025. As of now, the Provincial RCS has finalized the plan and is actively implementing propaganda activities, mobilizing public participation in VBD, and preparing all necessary conditions for the major event.

Notably, this year's organization features several innovations, moving towards a more professional and scientific approach. Starting from late May 2025, the provincial RCS has significantly ramped up its use of social media to widely promote the Red Journey and encourage public involvement, especially among young people, students, and university students, to register as volunteers and support the campaign. Crucially, since early June 2025, 60 volunteers have undergone training in essential knowledge and skills for Red Journey 2025. To date, the preparation of materials, promotional messages, and the provision of necessary knowledge and skills for the entire journey have been completed. Lang Son city's streets are now adorned with red banners, posters, and slogans promoting Red Journey 2025. Furthermore, on June 15, Red Journey volunteers paraded, conducted outreach, and distributed over 1,000 leaflets to mobilize public participation in VBD across city streets, densely populated areas, parks, and markets.

Luong Manh Dung, a student from the College of Medicine and a volunteer for Red Journey 2025, shared: "For over half a month, my fellow volunteers and I have consistently attended all Red Journey training sessions organized by the Provincial RCS. Besides promoting and mobilizing people to donate blood in residential areas, we are also actively spreading awareness on social media platforms like Zalo and Facebook to broaden the reach of the Red Journey."

In addition, the organizing committee has developed a detailed hourly schedule for each agency and unit to prevent long waits or congestion for blood donors at various stages before blood collection. Furthermore, medical personnel and doctors will be increased to support health checks, tests, screenings, and blood collection, ensuring a safe, swift, and time-efficient blood donation process for the public.

Beyond the proactive efforts of the volunteer team and organizing committee members, the units, departments, and sectors assigned targets are also intensifying their outreach, encouraging officials, workers, public servants, and employees to actively register for blood donation and participate in the program.

Mr. Bui Dinh Khoa, Director of Viettel Lang Son – a branch of the Military Industry and Telecommunications Group, stated: "In response to the Red Journey program, our unit's leadership team has taken the lead in registering for blood donation and mobilizing cadres and employees to participate. As a result, our annual blood donation figures consistently meet and exceed assigned targets. In 2024, our unit had 35 out of 32 targeted participants in VBD (achieving 109% of the target), and in 2025, 54 out of 33 people have already registered for VBD (achieving 163% of the set target)."

With the meticulous preparations by the organizing committee and the proactive engagement of various units, departments, and sectors, it is confident that Red Journey 2025 will be highly successful, exceeding the targeted number of blood units collected and fostering a wider spread of the VBD movement throughout the community.

The 13th Red Journey, chaired by the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion in coordination with the Office of the National Steering Committee for VBD Mobilization, and Blood Transfusion Centers and RCS associations from 48 provinces and cities, officially commenced on May 30, 2025. The program will run for two months (May 30 – July 30) across 48 provinces/cities and is expected to collect 100,000 blood units.

In Lang Son, this year's Red Journey, themed "Red drop of Xu Lang," is scheduled to take place over two days, May 19-20, 2025. The province has been assigned a target of mobilizing over 2,000 people to register for VBD and collecting 1,600 or more blood units from VBD participants, as well as mobilizing at least 200 volunteer turns across the province to participate in program activities. As of now, over 2,000 people across the province have registered for blood donation, achieving 100% of the set target, and over 300 volunteer turns have participated in program activities throughout the province.
