Lang Son Newspaper celebrates the anniversary of 60 years since its first publication

On the morning of April 24, Lang Son Newspaper solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the anniversary of 60 years since its first publication (May 1, 1964 - May 1, 2024).

Attending the celebration were Mr. Hoang Van Nghiem, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; former provincial leaders; Members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee; leaders of the Provincial People's Council, Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; leaders of departments, boards, sectors and organizations of the province; the leaders of District and City Party Committees; Provincial Business Association, central press agencies residing in the area; leaders of 18 Party newspapers in the region; former leaders, officers, and employees of Lang Son Newspaper.

On the central side were Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association and the leader of the Press Department, Ministry of Information and Communications.

60 years ago, on May 1, 1964, as Lang Son News, the first publication of Lang Son Newspaper was introduced to the Party Committee and people in the province. It consisted of 4 pages of 27×39 cm size, published every 5 days. This was the first important milestone in the 60-year journey of developing Lang Son Newspaper. Overcoming difficulties and shortages, the staff and reporters of Lang Son Newspaper with enthusiasm, creativity, intelligence, came to the grassroots units, closely followed the life, revolutionary movements, patriotic emulation and provided information to our army and people, reflected their need, encouraged them in production, fight, which contributed to creating heroic historical victories.

Through historical journeys, Lang Son Newspaper has gradually improved, catching up with press agencies in the country. From the initial 5 officers and reporters, up to now, Lang Son Newspaper has over 50 officers, reporters, public employees and workers. From 2000 up to now, Lang Son Newspaper has made many innovations, improving the quality of content and form. It has increased the number of circulation and the number of newspaper publications per week. Currently, Lang Son Newspaper publishes 5 times/week with about 1.9 million copies/year. From August 2018 until now, Lang Son E-Newspaper has made great progress with three versions including Vietnamese, English, Chinese and expanded public access channels on social networking platforms such as zalo, facebook. Thereby, it has met the increasing demand for diverse, responsive and convenient information of the public as well as promoting the image, potential, and strengths of Lang Son province via the Internet.

Implementing the Project "Building and developing a modern Lang Son Newspaper until 2025" approved by the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Lang Son Newspaper is gradually organizing its editorial office according to the convergence model, promoting operational activities and newspaper publishing processes based on the application of modern information technology; focusing on building a team of officials, reporters, editors, and technicians with strong political will, professional expertise who are able to meet the requirements of political tasks in the new period.

Along with professional activities, Lang Son Newspaper also actively participates in charity activities, coordinating with Party newspapers in the provinces to organize for back-to-history activities, those to express gratitude, support poor households, present gifts to preferential families, to mobilize, donate, act as a bridge and support a number of communes in the province to build new rural areas...

With outstanding achievements in 60 years of development, Lang Son Newspaper is honored to be awarded many noble awards from the Party and State such as Second-class Labor Medal, Third-class Labor Medal, many worthy awards from the Provincial People's Committee, ministries, branches, agencies and units.

Speaking at the celebration, Mr. Hoang Van Nghiem, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation acknowledged and congratulated the officers, employees and workers of Lang Son Newspaper on their results and achievements. Additionally, he highly appreciated the contribution of Lang Son Newspaper in popularizing the  guidelines and directions of the Party, the policies and laws of the State and the province to the People; fighting to protect the Party's ideological foundation, providing multi-dimensional information from life, connecting the Party's will and people's hearts, creating social consensus for the goal of building a sustainable,  prosperous, beautiful, civilized Lang Son province.

The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee suggested that Lang Son Newspaper continue to closely follow the directions and guidelines of the Party, policies and laws of the State and the province to organize appropriate and effective propaganda; to promptly discover, propagate, encourage and praise new factors, outstanding groups and individuals; to fight against false, hostile allegations, corrupt, negative and wasteful behaviors... Moreover, it should be proactive, sharp, and timely in forecasting, grasping and orienting political and ideological matters, especially important and sensitive issues and events in social life. Along with that, it was necessary to always maintain the principles and goals of the party press agency, to strictly comply and implement the Party's regulations and the State's laws on press work and press activities; to strictly implement regulations on professional ethics of journalists; to build a cultured press agencies and cultured journalists.

The leaders, officers, reporters, and workers of Lang Son Newspaper were asked to continue promoting the implementation of the Project to build and develop a modern Lang Son Newspaper until 2025 according to the roadmap, to research and develop digital transformation strategies and plans of Lang Son Newspaper with a long-term vision to keep up with the movement trends of the global and national press and media, to innovate and improve the quality of content and forms of print and electronic newspapers, to gradually develop Lang Son Electronic Newspaper into a key, high-quality publication, to further strengthen political and ideological education, to provide training courses in order to improve professional qualifications for staff, reporters, public employees and workers, to timely access to digital technology and modern media to create high quality journalistic works.

Within the celebration, the leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Council and Provincial People's Committee; the leaders of the Vietnam Journalists Association, the Propaganda and Education Commission of the Provincial Party Committee and Lang Son Newspaper pressed the button to open the new interface of Lang Son E-Newspaper - This was a stride, marking the development of the Lang Son Newspaper catching up with the trend of modern journalism.

On this occasion, Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 1 group and 6 individuals. Editor-in-Chief of Lang Son Newspaper awarded certificates of merit to 2 groups and 8 individuals who had outstanding achievements in the emulation movement to celebrate the anniversary of 60 years since its first publication (May 1, 2019). 1964 – May 1, 2024).
